(It's the last day of the trip. I swear, we don't ever have to talk about New York again.)
We spent day five walking in seemingly endless circles near Union Square in search of a street fair which evidently does not exist. We did, however, walk through the green market. I saw all sorts of foods that I’ve never heard of, let alone seen. I think one booth had over ten types and colors of carrots. Who knew there was such a variety!
We’ve read every menu in the neighborhood at one point or another, but unfortunately, nothing sounds good for dinner. Mexican food here is comprised of duck. When has “authentic” Mexican food EVER been made of duck?!
The highlight of this day was Hairspray on Broadway. We actually had a bit of time to kill before the show, so we walked over to Carnegie Hall. I performed twice at Carnegie Hall in concerts where multiple choirs came together for one performance, but I hadn’t ever had a chance to actually see the hall. I’m not sure what I expected from Hairspray, but it was amazing. It’s one of the few shows I’ve seen and enjoyed a first-time experience. Usually I know some of the music or the basic story line. This time, I knew nothing. Darlene Love, Lance Bass, Ashley Parker Angel, and Jerry Mathers were breathtaking. I just love live shows…
