Six Degrees

Have you ever played Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon? For those of you who missed the nineties, Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon is based on a variation of the concept of the small world phenomenon and states that any actor can be linked, through their film roles, to actor Kevin Bacon. The game requires a group of players to try to connect any film actor in history to Kevin Bacon as quickly as possible and in as few links as possible. (Thanks, Wikipedia)

A friend of mine and I play a take-off of this in our email subjects, tying one to another, changing it at random throughout the day. Please see below.

French Vanilla
French Indian War
Navajo Indian
Navajo Down
First Down
First Born

As if that one wasn’t bad enough, we continued through the week with this strange new form of entertainment.

You Don't Know Jack
You Don't Know Jack Sprat
Jack Sprat Could Eat No Fat
I'm going to Jackson, thats a fact.
Going up Cripple Creek
If You're Going Through Hell

Do you play silly games at work to keep yourself entertained? If so – by all means, share them with the rest of us!

Well since I no longer go to an office my playmates are few.

But back when I was gainfully employed, around Easter we used to have Peep Wars. We'd let the marshmallow Peeps dry out until they were pretty hard and then we'd lob them over the cubicle walls at each other and try to be very quiet so no one knew who got whom. We'd even sneak into other's cubes and throw from there to be sneaky. We'd find those damn peeps all year hiding under a file cabinet or behind a printer.

One year we decorated our Peeps with marker as warriors and then put them in the microwave to see whose lasted the longest.

Good times, good times.

Well, since my office was a room of about twenty-five eleven and twelve year olds who were supposed to be there to learn something, we didn't do anything like that...but it sounds like fun :).

about the author

Emily (n.) 1983 - Present

A loud-laughing twenty-something female who prefers flip flops to all other shoes, yet has a closet full that go unworn. Can often be found in front of a computer screen designing websites or playing "The Sims". Hates messes, cancelled plans and loud volumes. Loves suffocating summer heat, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (now with banana) and friends who know what you’re going to say before you ever open your mouth.

Warning: often speaks too quickly; listen carefully.
