My mother isn’t happy with her self-image. I love my mother, regardless of shape or size, but I can understand her frustration.
Over the past year, I’ve lost 25 pounds. I lost 25 pounds because I was mortified of the way I looked in my wedding pictures. The point was: I was motivated enough to make a difference.
Mom expressed an interest in Weight Watchers. In an effort to encourage her, I offered to be her buddy and join, too. I have a bit more weight I’d like to lose, and better eating would certainly help me do that, but more than anything, I want her to be confident and happy. I want her to be proud of herself, not discouraged, you know?
We went to our first meeting on Saturday, and really, it was far better than I anticipated. It feels very welcoming. It feels supportive. It feels like you’re not the only person thinking, “I need to make a change.”
So I just wanted to let you know – incase you’re feeling the same way. You’re not alone. We’re right there with you.

My mother has body image issues as well. She's not even overweight now actually, but being overweight as a kid and young adult caused her to have some pretty messed up views of herself. I hope that WW works for your mom, no one should have to go through life not liking what they see when they look in the mirror.
