Driving is one of my very favorite things to do. The only thing better than driving is passengering, but I'll do either for extended periods of time, especially if the weather is the least bit sunny. I roll down the windows or open the sun roof and turn up either air conditioning or heat, as necessary, listening to music while your tires whisk you from Point A to Point B.
I was on my way home tonight in yucky drizzle when I realized that there are certain times when you're in the car with the radio up and the rest of the world just fades out. Lights coming at you stop seem to be screaming at you and take on a soft glow like those that hum by, passively, in movies. Your body relaxes, melting into your seat, and the longer you drive, the farther away from reality you get. Music fills the air, so heavy that you couldn't make room for your own thoughts, even if you wanted to, so you sing because nobody is listening and fly into the night.
Tonight, my song of choice was "The Space Between."
The space between
Where you smile and hide
That’s where you’ll find me if I get to go
The space between
The bullets in our fire fight
Is where I’ll be hiding waiting for you
The rain that falls
Splashed in your heart
Ran like sadness down the window into your room
The space between
Our wicked lies is
The hope to keep safe from pain
Take my hand
Cause we’re walking out of here
What do you listen to while you're flying?

Let's see if I can recall the 6 CD's in my CD player.
First up is Jimmy Eat World, then Sia (my most recent purchase, not too thrilled with this album), Unwritten Law, Tool, Incubus and the Garden State soundtrack.

Excellent song (from what I thought was a mediocre album). I love driving too and nothing beats driving with good music.

Dude, i am the exact same way. Take me for a car ride, let ME play DJ and i am one happy camper. Driving and singing, it just doesn't get much better.....especially if i could be eating sushi while doing so.
